Cork Oak Live Edge Bowl (7.75") #48

$175.00

This Cork Oak bowl has the bark, which is real cork (and where cork comes from), still attached and is unfinished (raw wood).

Size: 3 1/2” tall by 7 3/4” wide

Wood: Cork Oak. This bowl features a live edge with the original cork bark. The curvature of the tree dictates the natural rim of the bowl.

Source: During the winter storms of 2022/2023, a very large Cork Oak tree fell in downtown Woodland. I seized the moment and with my trusty chainsaw, and was able to rescue some of the solid wood. This bowl is proof that something positive can result from an unfortunate event, and that’s one of the reasons I love turning wood.

Use: Great for holding dry food such as nuts, crackers, granola, or your favorite snacks!

Care & Maintenance: Note: the bark is somewhat fragile, so while this bowl is made to use, avoid submerging in water or running under a stream of water, as this could loosen the bark. This wood is unfinished, and as such, the bowl can only be wiped with slightly damp or dry cloth, and dried immediately. Avoid water or wet foods. If you want more protection, you can apply finish to the bowl. Simply rub with pure food-grade linseed or tung oil. It’s okay to lightly sand with 600 grit paper if the grain feels fuzzy.
