Black Walnut Serving Dish (9.5") #20

$225.00

This Walnut bowl has beautiful figured grain, with a shallow depth and minimalist design.

Size: 2 1/4” tall by 9 1/2” wide

Wood: California Claro Black Walnut. This wood has some fiddleback figure (wavy in certain light) and deep colors. Finished with food-safe linseed oil and beeswax.

Source: This walnut is from a large Claro Black Walnut tree just outside Woodland, CA. A farmer took the tree down as it was leaning too close to his house (and the tree would definitely win). A friend and I purchased the wood, and milled most of it into slabs. The farmer wanted the stump taken down as far as it could go, so we cut those into turning chunks.

Use: Great for holding dry food such as chips, popcorn, crackers, nuts, or your favorite snacks!

Care & Maintenance: Wipe with damp cloth, or rinse quickly with water, then dry immediately. Avoid leaving bowl in water or sitting wet. When bowl feels dry or looses luster, rub with mineral oil (butcher block oil), pure food-grade linseed or tung oil. It’s okay to lightly sand with 600 grit paper if the grain feels fuzzy after many washes. Oil frequently to maintain sheen. The more you use it, the better the patina!
