Creative Director, Nugget Markets, Woodland, California
Nugget Markets is a 12-store grocery chain in Northern California. Nugget Markets has been listed by Fortune Magazine as one of the best 100 companies to work for in the US for 14 consectutive years.
I am the Creative Director for an in-house creative department responsible for designing and managing our print work, corporate identity, advertising, in-store signage, website content, packaging, labels, collateral, video and audio production, and contributes ideas for marketing programs. I currently manage graphic designers, marketing professionals, and handle all outsource creative needs.
Art Director of Multimedia, Vincor USA, Dunnigan Hills, California
Vincor USA was a division of Vincor International, North America's 4th largest producer and marketer of wines by volume from 2001-2006. Vincor USA produced and marketed a collection of wines from California, Washington, South Africa, New Zealand, Canada, and Australia. Vincor USA was purchased by Constellation Brands in 2006.
I directed and managed team of multimedia designers servicing online marketing, website, photography, video, and graphic media needs of Vincor USA. I oversaw execution of both consumer and trade-focused projects within the creative department, and worked with brand managers to develop creative campaigns with timelines, budgets, and plans for online marketing. I worked and collaborated with external vendors for production and additional marketing support as well as directly with the VP of Marketing, graphic designers and sales teams to create marketing concepts.
A highlight was working with Monty Python's John Cleese on a voice-over for a video promoting Toasted Head Russian River Chardonnay. I headed the project, including creative direction, video and sound editing to produce a promotional DVD.
I presented design concepts, user interface training and yearly creative department improvements at national sales meetings to 60+ person sales team and senior management.
Graphic Designer, R.H. Phillips Winery, Dunnigan Hills, California
R.H. Phillips Winery produced Toasted Head, EXP, Kempton Clark and R.H. Phillips brands of wine from the Dunnigan Hills in Northern California. R.H. Phillips produced over 500,000 cases of wine on an annual basis during my employment.
I designed and managed the website look and feel for each brand. I produced CD-ROMs, created graphics, shot and edited product photography, and developed marketing ideas for brands. I created the company's first online retail store and built e-commerce to a $70,000+ business.
I was responsible for the R.H. Phillips website management, including all content, maintenance and sales for 8 major brands of wine as well as website statistics accuracy and reporting to the Marketing Director.
Guitar Building and Design Instructor, UC Davis Craft Center, California
The UC Davis Craft Center provides students and other members of the University community the means to achieve a balance between the rigors of academic and work environments and the need for creative expression.
I instigated and taught the first solid-body guitar design and construction class at the UC Davis Craft Center in 1998, and continued teaching through 2000. I instructed and demonstrated guitar design, woodshop skills, guitar structure, and basic lutherie skills to small classes of students. I taught a diversity of people, including professors, students, doctors and musicians, to build an electric guitar from scratch.
Website Designer, State of CA Integrated Pest Control Branch, CDFA, Sacramento, California
I was responsible for handling all graphics scanning, photographs and website design. I designed flyers, handouts, newsletters, and wrote a column for a quarterly publication.

I directed and authored a 95-page scientific publication on the benefits of watershed restoration. I created cover artwork, layout and production of publication.

I love to shoot photography, including film and digital. I love performing and listening to music and have a band called the Bottom Dwellers (bottomdwellersmusic.com). I make guitars, furniture and projects out of wood. I enjoy letterpress printing and creating handmade items. I am a runner, a skier, and a hiker. I've been on photography and video shoots to New Zealand, Australia, Canada and BC, Washington, and I've been to design conferences and training in Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, Austin, Colorado, Dallas, Denver and San Francisco.
